Washington State Organization of Homeowners’ Associations
The Washington Organization of Homeowners’ Associations is in the process of coming into being. We (really just me, Tim Siegel) at this point have not yet incorporated. But, if I can find a few interested parties, we (at that point) plan to do so. I believe we could have a 501(c)(3) status as an educational organization. HOA boards should have an organization to facilitate information sharing between boards; education, particularly for new members; and development of best practices, for example model contracts for managers. Boards have an important set of functions, but board members typically have little training when they join a board. A new member may join a board with little knowledge of, for example, the contracts already in place. Board members may join having different skill sets. This will sometimes work against the interests of the individual owners, who are often so engaged with their daily lives that they have little time left over to supervise the HOA governance. If you have any interest in joining in this effort, please email me at wasohoa@gmail.com.
